The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
