The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 Who are humble in their prayers, 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 and at almsgiving are active 4 and who are mindful of their chastity, 5 Except from their wives or the legal bondwomen that they possess, for then there is no blame upon them. 6 But those who covet more than this will be transgressors; 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 And they who carefully maintain their prayers - 9 These are the real gainers, 10 Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders. 11 NOW, INDEED, We create man out of the essence of clay, 12 Then We placed him as a sperm in a firmly established lodging; 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). 16 And We created above you seven ways, and We were not heedless of creation. 17 And We sent down from the heaven water in measure, and We caused it to settle in the earth; and verily to take it away We are Able. 18 With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- 19 And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. 20 And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat. 21 You are carried by the animals on land and by the ships in the sea. 22
