The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
