These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
