Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
