The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
