He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
