The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
