The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
