Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
