The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
