Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
