The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 such as play at plunging, 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
