HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
