The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
