The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
