The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
