The chiefs of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 "You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 And thus were they vanquished there and then, and became utterly humiliated. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
