The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the aligners (angels) aligning. 1 and the scarers scaring 2 and conveying [to all the world] a reminder: 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have decked the lower heavens with stars 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 They cannot listen to the speech of those on higher elevations and they are targeted from every side. 8 cast out [from all grace,] with lasting suffering in store for them [in the life to come]; 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. 10 (Muhammad), ask them, "Have they (people) been created stronger than what We have created?" We have created them from moist clay. 11 But you wonder, while they mock, 12 And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, 16 And also our forefathers? 17 Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." 18 There will only be a single jerk, and they will gape, 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
