The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
