Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The men of the Thicket cried lies to the Envoys 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are but a human like ourselves, we think that you are one of the liars. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
