Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
