So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise; 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
