And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
