The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
