The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
