And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
