Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
