Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the daybreak, 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 Why is there an oath in this, for the intelligent? 5 (Muhammad), consider how your Lord dealt with the tribe of Ad, 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 The like of whom were never created in the realm; 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me. 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him. 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 nor will any bind as He binds. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
