And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!" 79 Thus do We reward all those who do good. 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire? 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 But they went away from him, turning their backs. 90 He turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 What is amiss with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). 94 He said: 'Do you worship what you, yourselves have carved 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 (Abraham) said, "I will go to my Lord who will guide me". 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 And when he attained the age of running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients. 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We cried unto him: O Ibrahim 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 Peace be with Abraham. 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 We gave him the glad news of the birth of Isaac, one of the righteous Prophets. 112 And We blessed him, and Isaac; and of their seed some are good-doers, and some manifest self-wrongers. 113
