The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night swarming, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
