He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
