S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
