The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
