The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
