And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
