۞ IT IS GOD who creates you [all in a states of weakness, and then, after weakness, ordains strength [for you,] and then, after [a period of] strength, ordains [old-age] weakness and grey hair. He creates what He wills; and He alone is all-knowing, infinite in His power. 54 Upon the Day when the Hour has come, the harmdoers will swear that they had stayed no more than an hour. As such they are deceived. 55 And those who are given knowledge and faith will say: Certainly you tarried according to the ordinance of Allah till the day of resurrection, so this is the day of resurrection, but you did not know. 56 So that will be the Day when the excuses of the wrong-doers will not avail them, nor will they be asked to make amends. 57 Verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes; and indeed if thou camest unto them with a miracle, those who disbelieve would verily exclaim: Ye are but tricksters! 58 Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not. 59 So be thou patient; surely God's promise is true; and let not those who have not sure faith make thee unsteady. 60
