The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 you pay attention 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
