The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
