The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
