And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble. 94 Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.). 96 Do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them at night while they are asleep? 97 What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play? 98 Are they then secure from Allah's scheme? None deemeth himself secure from Allah's scheme save folk that perish. 99
