They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 Indeed We gave him authority in the land and bestowed him the means of everything. 84 He therefore pursued a purpose. 85 until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and he found nearby a people. We said, 'O Dhool Karnain, either thou shalt chastise them, or thou shalt take towards them a way of kindness.' 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 "But as for him who believes (in Allah's Oneness) and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward, (Paradise), and we (Dhul-Qarnain) shall speak unto him mild words (as instructions)." 88 Then he followed another way, 89 until he reached the limit where the sun rises and he found it rising on a people whom We had provided no shelter from it. 90 So, We encompassed in knowledge what was with him. 91 Then he set out on another expedition 92 when he reached between the two barriers he found on one side of them a nation who could barely understand speech. 93 They said: "O Dhu al-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are spreading corruption in this land. So shall we pay you taxes on the understanding that you will set up a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said: That in which my Lord has established me is better, therefore you only help me with workers, I will make a fortified barrier between you and them; 95 Bring me ingots of iron!" Then, after he had [piled up the iron and] filled the gap between the two mountain-sides, he said: "[Light a fire and] ply your bellows!" At length, when he had made it [glow like] fire, he commanded: "Bring me molten copper which I may pour upon it." 96 (Thus he constructed the barrier which) neither Gog nor Magog were able to climb nor were they able to dig a tunnel through the iron and brass barrier. 97 He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true. 98 ۞ On that day We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another: the trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them all together. 99 Then We shall bring Hell right before the infidels 100 (Unbelievers) whose eyes had been under a veil from remembrance of Me, and who had been unable even to hear. 101
