Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
