The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
