(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
