Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
