Noah (Nooh)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
