The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
