Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24
And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 Then We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence"... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril). 95 But if the people of these regions had believed and feared God, We would surely have showered on them blessings of the heavens and the earth; but they only denied, and We punished them for their deeds. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure that Our wrath would not come upon them at night while they are slumbering? 97 Do the people of the cities feel secure Our might shall not come upon them in daylight while they are playing? 98 Did they then feel secure against the plan of Allah?- but no one can feel secure from the Plan of Allah, except those (doomed) to ruin! 99
