And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 What though they would say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
